Quin Tohitau

Quin Tohitau our 2023 Polynesian Artist has had a passion for drawing since childhood, but it wasn't until 2017 that he began dedicating more time and effort to his craft. He draws inspiration from his peers in the Auckland arts scene, admiring their work and constantly striving to improve his own.

Growing up as a Pasifika person in New Zealand has heavily influenced his work. He incorporates elements of pop culture and media from his upbringing into his designs, creating something that is uniquely his own while still staying true to his cultural heritage. Representing the importance of maintaining cultural works and storytelling through patterns that represent various Pacific islands. This particular piece of art creates a sense of unity that is essential to preserve and treasure.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Quin is passionate about cultivating learning and development in young artists. He believes that anything that furthers the betterment of youth is incredibly important, and he is always eager to be involved in initiatives that encourage young artists to grow and develop their skills.

Looking ahead, Quin sees himself continuing to create freely with others on a variety of projects. He is excited to see where his passion for art takes him and is eager to share his unique perspective with others.

We are very honoured to have Quin as one of our artists for this years campaign and we look forward to seeing where the future takes him.
